When taking woodwinds lessons at East Valley School of Music, we guarantee our students a well-rounded education and understanding of the instrument. By using a progressive mix of curriculum and customized lessons, students learn how to read music fluently, develop technical proficiency, understand fundamental theory concepts, perform in front of an audience, compose their own music, and improvise popular music.
For woodwinds instruction, East Valley School of Music uses several prominent method books, including Essential Elements 2000, Standard of Excellence, and the Student Instrumental Course curriculum along with various supplemental books/materials. Students cover a variety of topics, including proper posture, hand position, embouchure, reading music, memorizing scales, music theory, and exposure to appropriate literature. Students will learn to master technique and perform some of their favorite songs on stage.
