What styles of guitar do we teach?

Our instructors teach all major styles—classical, rock, pop, jazz, blues, acoustic singer‑songwriter, worship, metal, and more. Whether you’re preparing for auditions, building classical technique, learning to improvise, or simply wanting to play your favorite songs, we tailor lessons to your goals.

What will I learn in guitar lessons at EVSM?

Students receive a comprehensive musical education, including:

  • Proper posture, hand position, and picking/fretting technique

  • Chords, scales, strumming patterns, and fingerstyle

  • Sight‑reading, rhythm development, and tablature

  • Music theory and ear training

  • Classical repertoire, modern styles, and student‑selected pieces

  • Performance preparation and confidence‑building skills

We use a wide range of method books and materials, selected to match each student’s learning style and musical interests.

Do I need a guitar at home?

Yes. To support proper technique and musical development, students are required to have a well‑maintained acoustic or electric guitar at home. For electric guitar students, an amplifier and instrument cable are also necessary. Instruments should be appropriately sized for younger students, and full‑size guitars are recommended for teens and adults. Having a quality instrument ensures proper tone, playability, and healthy technique.
