Shaylin Lorenz is an Arizona native who was born and raised in Tucson. She began taking piano lessons at the young age of 6, and continued to play piano through College. She has played in many recitals and juries, including accompanying for her church choir. Shaylin began teaching private students after graduating High School, and has been teaching privately since 2005. She loves passing her passion for music on to others, particularly students at the beginning level. Although she has taught students of all ages and backgrounds, she especially enjoys teaching children. Shaylin received her Bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Arizona in 2009 and began her career as a teacher teaching K-8 General Music. She married her husband in 2012 and they lived together in Germany for a time, where she taught Music and Movement, in addition to private piano lessons, at the International School of Bremen in Bremen, Germany. After moving back to the U.S. to Gilbert, in 2014, Shaylin again took up teaching General Music, and has also taught beginning orchestra and group piano classes at the High School level. She has also taught Junior High and High School guitar, piano, and choir. In 2019, Shaylin received her Master’s Degree in Music Education from Arizona State University, and subsequently obtained her Arizona teaching certification for grades PreK-12. She also has certification in Orff and Kodály pedagogy. Most recently, she has enjoyed teaching General Music for Mesa Public Schools, and is now turning her focus to private teaching in order to spend more time with her new baby boy. Shaylin is a patient and compassionate music educator, whose diverse teaching experiences allow her to easily adapt to many different learning styles and abilities.
