Peter Davis has a Ph.D in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma. He has 40 years of experience in teaching piano. His students have been laureates at the state, regional, and national levels in piano and composition. As a student, he won 1st prize in Composition in 1987 in SCMTA.
His main teachers have been Jane Magrath, George Katz, Laurence Morton, and Jerie Gail Ramsey. He has performed and done workshops in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and this country. He has 35 years of experience adjudicating piano and composition for MTNA, the National Piano Guild, and the National Federation of Music Clubs. In South Carolina, for many years, Peter was chair of the piano department at Bob Jones University. While there, he held terms as the vice president of programs for Greenville Music Teachers Association, the state chair for SCMTA, the commissioned composition coordinator, and the state secretary.
Peter is currently head of the music department at International Baptist College and Seminary in Chandler, AZ, where he teaches piano, music theory, hymn playing, composition, conducting, and music history. He has numerous publications, including many choral works, piano arrangements, and instrumental arrangements. His six-volume graded hymn anthology, Keyboard Treasury, has long been a staple for church pianists, available on Amazon, JW Pepper, and Christianbook.com.
