Anqi Li is a Steinway-Certified Piano Teacher, composer, and experienced music educator with a passion for helping students build strong musical foundations while developing a genuine and lasting love for music. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film Scoring from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Temple University. Before relocating to Arizona, Anqi spent five years teaching piano in Los Angeles, working with students ranging from young beginners to adults.

Anqi is especially passionate about working with children and is known for her warm, patient, and engaging teaching style. She believes students learn best when lessons are both structured and enjoyable. Along with developing essential skills such as note reading, rhythm, technique, hand position, and musical expression, Anqi incorporates singing, ear training, rhythm games, and creative activities to help younger students learn naturally and confidently.

With her background in composition and film scoring, Anqi brings a unique creative perspective to piano instruction. She enjoys incorporating familiar music from movies, animation, and seasonal favorites into her lessons, helping students strengthen their technique and musicianship while experiencing the excitement of playing music they recognize and love. Her creative background also allows her to introduce elements of improvisation, ear training, and composition, encouraging students not only to play music, but to truly understand and connect with it.

Anqi believes that every student can become musical when given the right combination of encouragement, structure, and inspiration. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she adapts her lessons to each student’s personality, learning style, age, and musical interests. Her goal is not only to teach students how to play the piano, but also to help them become confident, expressive, and independent musicians.

Anqi welcomes students of a wide range of ages and experience levels, from young beginners taking their first steps at the piano to more experienced students looking to further develop their musicianship. She is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese and is happy to provide bilingual instruction when helpful.
