Elijah Morris is a multi-instrumental performer and music instructor from Phoenix, Arizona. His love for all types of music has been evident since he was a child, but his passion for performance began at the age of 9 when he joined the school orchestra on a whim. He would spend his middle and high school careers as a leading violinist of award-winning chamber and symphony orchestras. During this time, he also discovered an interest in the guitar, which he began teaching to himself at home.
Upon graduating from high school, he attended Northern Arizona University for two semesters where he studied both classical guitar and violin. His desire to study jazz and contemporary music, however, led him to transfer to the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, California, where he earned a Merit Scholarship and a Bachelor’s degree in Electric Guitar Performance.
As a teacher, Elijah has taught privately to all ages and genres on guitar, violin, and music theory since high school. He was hired by LACM to be a student tutor as an excelling upperclassman, and received a Certificate of Achievement as a Student Tutor from the school. He continues to provide private lessons as well as record in the studio and perform live around the Phoenix area. His drive for learning has led him to teach himself several other instruments including mandolin, ukulele, piano, bass, and recorder.
