Louis Coste is a violinist and composer/arranger from Arizona. As an educator, Louis believes that every child has the potential to learn and enjoy playing an instrument. His focus for violin and viola instruction includes: a healthy posture, a healthy practice mindset, relaxed technique, a sharp ear, and necessary theoretical knowledge. Louis believes that learning a string instrument imparts life skills such as time management, goal setting, teamwork, and a personal connection to the arts. He seeks to develop twenty-first century musicians and help students achieve their goals.
Louis acquired his passion for music education in college and graduated from Northern Arizona University with Bachelor’s Degrees in Violin Performance and Instrumental Music Education, with an undergraduate certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy where he had the pleasure of studying under Shelley Rich and Dr.Louise Scott. He has also studied with Steven Moeckel and Dr. Katherine McLin.
Louis has performed with the Flagstaff Symphony, the NAU Symphony Orchestra, the NAU Chamber Orchestra, the Edelweiss Quartet, and in several festival orchestras and small ensembles. Louis served as concertmaster for the NAU Chamber and Symphony Orchestras and Assistant Concertmaster of the Fellowship Orchestra at the Marrowstone Music Festival. He has been a featured soloist with the NAU chamber orchestra and was a finalist in the NAU Concerto Competition.
