Non-Solicitation of Clients

Please be aware that, per the contract EVSM instructors sign with the school, instructor is not permitted to teach any prospective, current, or former EVSM students privately apart from the school. Instructor agrees that he or she will not, by himself or herself or with or through others, directly or indirectly solicit any business from any prospective, current, or former EVSM Client. Instructor also agrees that he or she will not provide services upon request of any prospective, current, or former EVSM Clients. A “prospective” client is defined as any person who has entered the premises or contacted EVSM with intent to receive music lessons.

Materials

Students will be provided a binder with their name on it and lesson assignment sheets. For convenience, East Valley School of Music will provide books and other supplies to its clients. Clients may purchase books three ways:
1. In person at the school.
2. Over the phone or online for instructor to pick up and bring to the next lesson.
3. Over the phone or online with a $7.99 convenience fee for EVSM to mail them.

Delayed Schedule

Instructor must inform client if he or she is running more than 5 minutes late. When running late, instructor will teach on a delayed schedule. Instructor is responsible to make up any missed time due to tardiness. If a client is unable to receive a lesson on a delayed schedule, instructor is responsible to make up the missed lesson or missed time.

Please indicate that you agree with these Policies:

Communication

East Valley School of Music sends out periodic emails with important announcements and updates. Please read these emails to stay informed. Upon enrolling in lessons, you will be given your instructor’s contact information, including phone number and email address. If you need to cancel a lesson, please contact your instructor directly.

Scheduling

If you need to change your scheduled timeslot, please contact your instructor. If your instructor is unable to find a timeslot that works for your schedule, it may be necessary to reassign you to another instructor. Due to difficulties in scheduling, we are unable to accommodate frequent timeslot changes. Student is expected to stay committed to the same weekly timeslot. Furthermore, due to the nature of coordinating the schedules of instructors and students, students may be asked from time to time if they are able to accommodate lesson time changes.

Missed Lessons

East Valley School of Music does not give refunds for missed lessons. Students who miss a lesson for any reason will have the opportunity to attend a group make-up class that will be held by their instructor once a month. Lessons cancelled by EVSM instructors will be rescheduled privately or taught by a substitute instructor. Adult students are required to give at least 2 hours of notice of cancellation of a lesson and instructor will provide make-up lessons to adult students at their own discretion.

Please indicate that you agree with the policies of Communication, Scheduling and Missed Lessons:

Instrument Requirement

Student is required to have an acoustic piano or a full size 88-key digital piano/weighted keyboard with music stand, bench, and pedal to enroll in lessons. Please indicate that you have the required instrument and accessories for your lesson choice:

Requirement for Adult to be Present

Distraction Minimization

Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons at any time, but siblings, infants, and friends of students are not permitted to sit in on lessons as it is a distraction to both the student and the instructor and compromises the learning environment. Anyone other than parents will be asked to leave the room or to keep a reasonable distance during lessons. Please also keep noise in other parts of the house to a minimum and keep distracting pets behind closed doors.

Practice Requirement & Probation

Student is required to attend lessons regularly and practice consistently. Music lessons are a serious commitment, and East Valley School of Music cannot hold timeslots for students who are unable to attend and/or practice on a regular basis. Student is required to practice the minimum minutes assigned by instructor 5 days a week. Parent is required to sign off on lesson assignment sheets to verify practice time for students age 4-12. Instructor will notify parent if student is consistently absent, not practicing, not completing theory assignments, or misbehaving during lessons. If issues are not resolved, student will be placed on a 4-week probationary period, after which they may be dismissed from East Valley School of Music. Students who miss 3 consecutive lessons without communicating with their instructor or the office will be dismissed with no refund.
